Our Vertical Farm
the future of farming
Oh Shoot is an urban vertical farm set in the quaint town of Qala in Gozo. There are a lot of advantages to vertical farming. One of the most important for us is having a reliable year-round production of our favourite microgreens and being able to grow them without having to worry about weather or pests. We are also able to grow more produce in a smaller space. Another great advantage to vertical farming is minimizing water usage. Hydroponic growing processes only use about 10% the amount of water when compared to regular farming. Living on a very dry island with limited space makes these advantages all the more important. Vertical farming is also better for the environment as it reduces the amount of fossil fuels needed in traditional farming. It also completely eliminates the need for chemicals and pesticides and greatly reduces transport needs as the food is grown close to the consumer. Here at Oh Shoot we plan to keep striving to be as sustainable as possible
Our Edible Flower Garden
From garden to plate
Oh Shoot has extended it's business to their own fields in Qala, Gozo. We built a green house to exclude all animals especially our peacocks, which are a hungry bunch. There is a wide variety of flowers blooming all year round and the selection is getting more colourful as the months pass. We make sure the best of what's in season is plentiful and orders are picked a maximum 2 hours before they are in our clients hands in Gozo. For Maltese clients give us a holler and we'll give you details
About Us
Founders of Oh Shoot Microgreens, Matt and Christina combined their knowledge and passions to start their own vertical farm back in 2018. Matt has an extensive background in permaculture and urban landscaping and is a firm believer in sustainability and organic gardening. Christina has a background in nutrition and health coaching and is also a firm believer in sustainability and chemical free living.
Matt and Christina passed on their knowledge and resources to Keith Anthony and Sara to setup Their own vertical farm in the quaint Gozitan town of Qala and have chosen to focus his efforts on microgreens.
